Applications are invited from the youth of Bundaberg to walk the Kokoda Track during the July school holidays 2010.
This will be the third year of this program.
Applications close 20 November 2009
This Program is open to all youth who meet the following criteria.
Youths must be:
(a) Over 16 years of age (but not more than 18) before departure date
(b) Be of reasonable physical fitness
(c) Be prepared to participate in a rigorous training program of 4 sessions per week, commencing approximately 3 months before departure
(d) Be prepared to stop physical contact sports 3 weeks prior to departure
(e) Show a good level of commitment to the program
(f) Be prepared to help with fundraising for the event
The RSL Sub Branch intends to cover the major costs which would include:
1. Cost of Trek and flights—Cairns to Port Moresby—Port Moresby to Cairns
2. Accommodation Cairns (2 nights)
3. Travel—Bundaberg to Cairns—Cairns to Bundaberg
4. Hiking back packs
Youths/Parents to cover personal costs:
1. Passport and Visa
2. Sleeping bag, air mattress and water bladder
3. Innoculations and personal medical items.
4. Personal apparel including trekking boots
(Total cost approximately $700.00)
