Bundaberg State High School values the contribution students make in helping to create a great school. To support this process we have developed a range of Incentive and reward programs that recognise and reward students for helping to build a positive school culture. Incentive days are held at the end of each term and include activities such as excursions to Dreamworld, Australia Zoo, Wet 'N' Wild and Movie World. These rewards are offered to those students within the Junior Secondary school who consistently apply themselves to their classwork, demonstrate appropriate behaviour, have good class participation, submit assessment and homework by the due dates and have a positive and respectful attitude to teachers and peers. Each term students are eligible to attend and the effort demonstrated by students to receive the rewards make them highly successful.
In addition to Incentive days, students are also rewarded for 95% and 100% attendance throughout the school term and year. Students prizes, certificates and rewards ensure that those students who are 'doing the right thing' get rewarded for their efforts. The school also has a 'Gotcha' card campaign used in the playground that rewards students for doing the right thing at lunch. So whether it is receiving a 'Thank You' postcard in the mail from one of the teachers, or an invitation to the end of term Incentive day, the school wants everyone to add to the positive culture that makes the school great.
