Bundaberg State High School has a number of policies which apply to students, staff and the wider school community.

These include, but are not limited to those listed under 'Related links' on this page.

Uniforms

The policy on school dress standards for students has been determined by the Bundaberg State High School community in consultation with the school Principal and endorsed by the Parents and Citizens' Association. It is designed to contribute to and support a healthy and safe learning environment which allows students to participate in school activities.  In this code, the term ‘community’ is used as a synonym for ‘community members, parents, teachers and students’.

All parents would be aware that Bundaberg State High School is an ‘uniform’ school (like all others in Bundaberg) and that the Junior School uniform (Years 7, 8 and 9) is different from the Senior uniform (Years 10, 11 and 12). Seniors have a choice of different shirts while the juniors have a unisex shirt. Only limited styles of school shorts are permitted – these are plain blue with the school logo.

The main purpose of a uniform is that it identifies the person as a member of our community and secondly, it removes the competitive element from dress style, presenting students more equally. The possibility of outsiders walking into our grounds has increased, and our school uniform ensures that these people are quickly and easily identified by staff.

Visitors to the school

Any person who is not a student or staff member of the school is not allowed on school premises without permission from Administration.  The school is vigilant with regard to trespassers and the entry of other unauthorised persons into the school grounds. Students are not permitted to associate with outsiders who may be loitering outside school fences. Students must not invite non-student friends into the grounds at any time.  Visitors – including parents and contract workers – MUST report to the Administration building upon arrival.
